Windows Update
Windows update should just exclusively update the Window operating system, Internet Explorer 7 should not be a critcal update, and Windows Search 4.0 should not be an update too. An IT person should have to back track once he/she finds out that a update that is not critical to he Windows operating is freezing an image after that image has been deployed to a number of workstations. You then have to redo the image; work that should not have to be redone. Since I am ragging on Microsoft I have another bone to pick, some programmer in the Microsoft world decided that if you did not choose the "language bar" then you do not know or understand the importance of that tool so after a while the language bar just mysteriously appears with you not choosing to install it on the task bar. It's it's magic.

Dell Technical Help
On all Dell computers there is a service tag number ( 7 alphanumeric numbers) and a express service tag number ( it is about 7 or 9 digits long ) and the express service tag number is used to route your call to the right type of support. I do not know all the classisfications of support but the college purchases "gold support" when HCC buys computers. The last few times that I have called tech support the phone system has routed me to the wrong tech support level after listening to elevator music for 10 to 20 minutes and transfered to the right tech support and then another 10 or 15 minutes on hold. This last time I had to call tech support I was routed again to the wrong support level and the phone computer tech told me that he was going to transfer me to the right level of support, but I said "Stop, I do not care what level you are just tell my what I need to know to fix my current problem." He promply responded," I can not do that because I am not gold support." I said again, " You have the answer and I do not care, just tell me what I need to know." He said, "I cannot do that I have route you to gold support." While this is going on a I am thinking to myself, "Kilye, this is soooo stupid that he will not tell me what I need to know because to what? Someone ( big Dell brother, all calls are monitored by some Dell person ) is listening to the call?" In the end I said, "Ok" and then I was put on hold listening to elevator music for some time until the "gold support guy" came on the phone.

Is There Really Free Choice
Wherefore , as by one man (Adam) sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: Romans 5:12
For all have sinned ... Romans 3:23
That is thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Romans 10:9
I used the KJV because that is what Jesus used in the temple.
Those statements are not congruent because the first statement there is no free choice, by default I am on the losing team, I am the enemy; just because I was born into this existance with no part in the decision being made by ME. Then in the 3rd verse I have to make a free choice, I have to choose God? In the first statement no free choice, and then the last statement I make a free choice. I have to make a choice dependent on a previous choice that I had no part in. That is wrong.
So then after a number of years I come to a age ( or maturity or accountabilty) that I am to recongize that I am sinner with me not be able to chose if I want to be a sinner, the choice has already be made. The Churches response for this is that I would have made the same choice as Adam, but that is not a true statement. I am not Adam, and we are not all born with the same personalities, we are all different; you can not make a blanket statement that I would have choosen to disobey God in the Garden just like Adam. So basically we come into this existance with no free choice of determining our status before God.
So then once I understand my place before God, then I am given a free choice; why a free choice now? I have to choose Jesus so I can go to Utopia, or if stay with the choice that I was given ( with out my choosing) I am bannished to Morgan City, La. Where is my freedom????
Why do I have choose in the first place? Why am I in the middle of this war between God and Satan in the first place? When I choose to die, why can I not choose to go into non-existance? I am not going to play this game.
My conclusion is that religion is man's attempt to explain the world in which we live in, but religion falls short no matter what religion you believe in trying to explain our existance, and religion has been used to regulate people's lives by people who think they know better then you on how to live your life. Plus, political power.

Football
The Football rules againest players about celibrating after scoring a touchdown are just plain stupid. Scoring a goal, or point in any game is excellerating, and such a great feeling -- celibrating is a natural reaction. In the NFL these are grown men or suppost to be; if you can not take it, then get out of the sport, these rules that the NFL impose are detrimental to the sport.
Back to the quantum world, the reason that "quantum entanglement" may violate relativity is that if the information transfer is faster then the speed to light then that is a violation. According to relativity nothing in the universe can faster then the speed of light. Brian Greene, a theoretical physicist explained why this way; "the whole universe is moving at the speed of light, but objects that we percieve as moving slower then the speed of light the reason is that the energy is being converted into time which results in a slower velocity for that given object."
It maybe that "quantum entanglement" uses a mechanism that we can not detect, or do not understand. When it comes to the "quantum world" things are not as they seem.

The Quantum World
In the quantum world ( which means really, really, really small ) there is a situation that happens called "quantum entanglement" and it seems to violate special relativity. No one really understands the mechanics behind this phenomena.
In the real world of which we live in, and experiance, for A to effects B there has to be some medium where the information is transfered. For example the act of hearing, when someone talks, the sounds that are generated by the vocal cords are carried by vibrations through the air to a persons ear, and then those vibrations are interperated as sound to the ear. There is a visable chain of events that scientifically can be varified.
With quantum entanglement there is no visable medium in which information transfered from one subatomic particule to another, and distance is not a factor. You could have two particules on opposite sides of the universe and if they are "entangled" and if you measured the spin of one of the particules the other particule (on the other side of the universe) would have the same spin, by measuring the spin of one of the particules you have effected the other particule. The transmittion of information is instantaneous with no visable medium to which a person can point too. This is like you have two people in different cities, one person puts on a sock but does not know what color the sock is. As soon as that person looks and percieves what the color of the sock is lets say on his left foot, the person who is "intangled" their left sock is the same color. The very act of measuring effects the second particule.
I have a friend who thinks "wormholes" but I am not sure.

Cap and Trade
Obama plans of fighting Gobal Warming (which is called "Climate Change" now) which is in reality another tax on the Middle Class because the increase for conducting business will be passed onto the comsumer. The Obama administration will create a credit (the business will have to pay the government for the credits) system where business will be limited to an amount of CO2 that they can emit so in essence their emmisions well be capped, but for those business that are below their emmision cap they will be able to trade their credits to another company that is over their limit thus making a financial gain of some amount, what ever the price of a credit. The process has to be control somewhere, sooooooo you might ask where???? Well I will tell you -- Chicago, the thug city and who is going to be charge, one of the President's buddies and make all kinds of money off this scam, plus the traders who will be maintaining the credit market.
Cap and trade will increase the price of energy, food, and be passed onto the consumer. Soon we will have to pay to breath.
Third world countries, and China (which is building coal powerplants) will still expell CO2 at the same rates or increased rates with no repercussions.

YEA, the Democratic change is here, NO STOCKMARKET, NO MORE RICH PEOPLE, SCREW BIG BUSINESS, Dingy Harry is putting in a train system to the "Bunny Ranch" YEA. That way you can be screwed both ways. If you bought a house you could not afford it does not matter because Obama is going to refinace you and lower the principle of your morgage-- YEA; change. Obama said the for to long people have been living irresponsible and living beypond their means, but the Democratic Party = Obama, is spending money that we do not have. Were is the responsiblity???? And the Republicans have not been much better, most of them are to concerned about getting relected and being invited to DC parties, and not living by conservative principals that put them there in the first place. As far as I am concerned McCain is a half Democrat.
If Obama puts through his "Cap and Trade" tax we are all screwed. YEA.

I have finished reading the book, "Barbarians" by Terry Jones and Alan Ereira and then watched the DVD's that were part of the book and then shown on the History Channel. The premise of the book was challenging the ideas that the Romans were not civilized but they were the Barbarians not the other nationalities that the Roman's conquered and then the Romans considered them to be barbarians. The nations that surrounded the Roman Empire were in more ways more civilized then the mighty Roman Empire. The best example that exemplifies the point is the Roman coliseum and the thurst for the blood that the Roman nation satisfied there. Nowhere else in any other nation was the killing of innocent people by lions, or by gladiator’s to the amusement and enjoyment of the Roman people that filled the coliseum. I remember studying the Roman Nation in one of my Humanity classes and that my professor said that near the end of the Roman Empire the coliseum was in use 260 days out of the year. That is allot of death for the amusement of a nation. No other nation that surrounded or that was conquered be the Romans made death a national past time.
The Romans also treated knowledge from other cultures as either relevant to their needs or irrelevant so it was discarded, which means they burnt libraries. Rome was an Empire for 1000 years and in that time so much general knowledge was lost because it did not serve the Empire. The Catholic Church also bears so blame because when it came to power as the Holy Roman Empire beginning with Charlemagne if the knowledge did not benefit the Church, or in a act of holy rage to stamp out paganism; burn the libraries.
I had always wondered what caused the "Dark Ages" and I think that I stumbled onto one possible answer. The Roman Empire and the Church burnt the world’s libraries that contained the world's knowledge which resulted in man having to rediscover information and ideas that were lost for hundreds of years.
In the TV show a Roman boat was discovered in the Mediterranean and some artifacts were recovered but one artifact was thought insignificant until someone decided to x-ray the artifact. It was then discovered that there was an intricate gear formation that the x-ray revealed. Once the machine was recreated it was discovered that the motion of the planets and their position to each other could be revealed with this device. Here is a machine that was created a number of years ago by the Greeks that the plans were no doubt in some library that was burnt by the Roman Empire.
Burning books is not right even if you do not agree with it, you have the power to accept it, or reject it, but burning a book is not an option.

You may be wondering why I posted these I.T. rules, well let me tell you. I was told by my boss to go and install a printer in this person's office the other day. I person had given their permision to enter thier office and for me to install the printer which was fine by me. I entered the office to discover that the computer I was to install the printer on was a labtop, but the laptop was at home. The person did not know that the computer had to be there so I could install the printer, sometime PhD means "pizzia hut dude" since I am surrounded by them. Life of an I.T. person.

How to Please Your I.T. Department
1. When you call us to have your computer moved, be sure to leave it buried under half a ton of postcards, baby pictures, stuffed animals, dried flowers, bowling tropies and childern's art. We don't have a life, and we find it deeply moving to catch a fleeting glimpse of yours.
2. Don't write anything down. Ever. We can play back the error messages from here.
3. When an I.T. person says he's coming right over, go for coffee. That way you won't be there when we need your password. It's nothing for us to remember 700 screen saver passwords.
4. When you call the help desk, state what you want, not what's keeping from getting it. We don't need to know that you can't get into your mail because your computer won't power on at all.
5. When I.T. support sends you an E-Mail with high importance, delete it at once. We are just testing.
6. When an I.T. person is eating lunch at his desk, walk right in and spill your guts right out. We exist only to server.
7. Send urgent email all in uppercase. The mail server picks it up and flags it as a rush delivery.
8. When the photocopier doesn't work call computer support, there's electronics in it.
9. When something's wrong with your home pc, dump it on a I.T. person's chair with no name, no phone number, and no discription of the problem. We love a puzzle.
10. When an I.T. person tells you that computer screens don't have cartridges in them, argue. We love a good argument.
11. When an I.T person tells you that he will be there shortly, reply in a scathing tone of voice, "And just how many weeks do you mean by shortly?" That really motivates us.
12. When the printer won't print, resend the print job 20 more times. Print jobs frequently get suck into black holes.
13. When the printer still won't print after 20 times, sent the job to all 68 printers in the company. One of them will work.
14. Don't learn the proper term for anything technical. We know exactly what you mean by "My thingy blew up."
15. Don't use online help, online help is for wimps.

I finally understand the difference between a closed, flat, or open universe. In a flat universe a triangle equalls 180 degrees I did not understand meaning of that statement. I just finnished reading a book by Leonard Susskind; "the father of string theory." Anyways a flat universe means that the expansion rate of the universe is constant, a closed universe means that the universe is shrinking and a open universe the expansion is accelerating. With a flat universe the triangle is not being distorted so sum of all the angles equal 180 degrees.

GS-1000 1978
It has been a long time since I have ridden a motorcycle. The first motorcycle I had was a Suzuki GS-1000 which I bought from Blackwolf. I am not sure why Blackwolf himself bought the bike or why he sold it to me ( it was a long time ago ), but I ended up with the motorcycle and I road it a number of years until we moved to Alaska (Ft. Wainwright) that was 1988. I sold the motorcycle and have not been on a bike since. For the last few years I started missing ridding a motorcycle, and when I was driving around I would spy every bike on the road. I have a Honda VT 750c.

LHC -- Large Hadron Collider at CERN was fired up, and we are still here. There is a big controversy surounding the LHC that it will create quantum black holes thus destroying planet Earth. But, we are saved now because the collider will be down for 3 or more months, it was a large helium leak, and some kind of electrical problem.
There are some law suits againest the collider, these people have no understanding of the physics of the collider. I think that these are the same doom and gloom people world wide that believe that what ever man does somehow it is going to destroy the earth. One of the people bring a law suite againest the collider is a chemist, he probably had 2 physics classes in his life, a real expert. When they get the collider working it will be cool.

Dear Diary,
For my fiftieth birthday this year, my wife (the dear) purchased a
week of personal training at the local health club for me. Although
I am still in great shape since playing on my college football team
30 yrs ago, I decided it would be a good idea to go ahead and give
it a try.
Called the club and made my reservation with a personal trainer
named Belinda, who identified herself as a 26 yr old aerobics
instructor and model for athletic clothing and swim wear. My wife
seemed pleased with my enthusiasm to get started! The club
encouraged me to keep a diary to chart my progress.
MONDAY: Started my day at 6:00am.
Tough to get out of bed, but it was well worth it when I arrived at
the health club to find Belinda waiting for me. She was something of
a Greek goddess -- with blonde hair, dancing eyes and a dazzling
white smile.
Woo Hoo!!!!!
Belinda gave me a tour and showed me the machines. She took my pulse
after 5 minutes on the treadmill. She was alarmed that my pulse was
so fast, but I attributed it to standing next to her in her Lycra
aerobics outfit. I enjoyed watching the skillful way in which she
conducted her aerobics class after my workout today.
Very inspiring, Belinda was encouraging as I did my sit-ups,
although my gut was already aching from holding it in the whole time
she was around. This is going to be a FANTASTIC week!!
TUESDAY: I drank a whole pot of coffee, but I finally made it out
the door. Belinda made me lie on my back and push a heavy iron bar
into the air, and then she put weights on it! My legs were a little
wobbly on the treadmill, but I made the full mile. Belinda's
rewarding smile made it all worthwhile. I feel GREAT!! It's a whole
new life for me.
WEDNESDAY: The only way I can brush my teeth is by laying the
toothbrush on the counter and moving my mouth back and forth over
it. I believe I have a hernia in both pectorals. Driving was OK as
long as I didn't try to steer or stop. I parked on top of a GEO in
the club parking lot.
Belinda was impatient with me, insisting that my screams bothered
other club members. Her voice is a little too perky for early in the
morning and when she scolds, she gets this nasally whine that is
VERY annoying.
My chest hurt when I got on the treadmill, so Belinda put me on the
stair monster. Why would anyone invent a machine to
simulate an activity rendered obsolete by elevators? Belinda told me
it would help me get in shape and enjoy life. She said some other
useless stuff too.
THURSDAY: Belinda was waiting for me with her vampire-like teeth
exposed as her thin, cruel lips were pulled back in a full snarl. It
wasn’t my fault I was a half an hour late; it took me that long to tie
my shoes.
Belinda took me to work out with dumbbells. When she was not
looking, I ran and hid in the men's room.. She sent Lars to find me,
then, as punishment, put me on the rowing machine -- which I sank.
FRIDAY: I hate that Belinda more than any human being has ever
hated any other human being in the history of the world. Stupid,
skinny, anemic little cheerleader. If there were a part of my body I
could move without unbearable pain, I would beat her with it.
Belinda wanted me to work on my triceps. I don't have any triceps.
And if you don't want dents in the floor, don't hand me the *&%
#(#&**!!@*@ barbells or anything that weighs more than a sandwich.
The treadmill flung me off and I landed on a health and nutrition
teacher. Why couldn't it have been someone softer, like the drama
coach or the choir director?
SATURDAY: Belinda left a message on my answering machine in her
grating, shrilly voice wondering why I did not show up today. Just
hearing her made me want to smash the machine with my planner.
However, I lacked the strength to even use the TV remote and ended
up catching eleven straight hours of the Weather Channel.
SUNDAY: I'm having the Church van pick me up for services today so I
can go and thank GOD that this week is over. I will also pray that
next year, my wife, will choose a gift for me that is fun like a
root canal or a vasectomy.

The concept of gravity is really not comprehended because it is not understood how gravity is created, mass = gravity and are there little "gravitrons?" Gravity moves at the speed of light and is through out the universe. Before Einstein there was Newton who discribe gravitatation attraction between objects with the following formula:
Fg= G m1m2/r2
G = universal gravitational constant
m = mass
r = seperation between the two masses
On first look at this equation you just assume the attraction is intrinsic with the two masses and nothing else involved, and the equation works. Then along came Einstein and redefined gravity and space = space time, Einstein showed how gravity was warping space, and that warping of space created the orbit the planets around the sun because if that warping was not happening the earth would be traveling the Milky Way in a straight line. So then is gravity really attracting another object or does Newton's formula describe the warping of space that mass objects create and that the effect that the warping of space is creating the attraction on two objects?

The Catholic Church also bears some blame because when it came to power as the Holy Roman Empire beginning with Charlemagne if the knowledge did not benefit the Church, or in a act of holy rage to stamp out paganism; burn the libraries.
It was then discovered that there was an intricate gear formation that the x-ray picture revealed. Once the machine was recreated it was discovered that the motion of the planets and their position to each other could be revealed with this device. Here is a machine that was created 1000’s of years ago by the Greeks that the plans were no doubt in some library that was burnt by the Roman Empire.
Burning books is not right even if you do not agree with it, you have the power to accept it, or reject it, but burning a book is not an option.

Yea, it's "CANADA DAY."
This is the day that Canada invaded the America Colonies in the war of 1812 and burn't down the then not American (which was not white color at the time) "White House." This action resulted in the Americans rebuilding the burn't White House and then painting the president's house "white," resulting what reguarded now as the "White House." Yea, burning down the house!!!!!! Party, party.

On of my HP printers in one of my computer labs went down and it had a error code, so I went HP web site to look up the error code. I already kind of knew what the code meant, but I wanted to be sure, so I found my printer on HP web site and low and behold the defination for the error was not listed. So I decided to call HP support to confirm what I thought the error code meant, this was the conversation:
me: I have a printer error that I would like you to tell me what it means?
HP: Can I have the serial number of the printer?
me Ok, it is xxxxxxxxx.
HP: That printer is out of warranty, you need to pay 21.00 for support.
me: Are you saying that I need to pay 21.00 so you can tell what your error means that is not listed on your web page?
HP: yes
me: You have got to be kidding!!!!
HP: You can try our online web support, it's free.
me: Ok
I bring up the HP web site on my computer and navigate to HP's web support page and then log onto the web support page.
me: I have a printer problem and I am not sure of the error code.
HP: Can I have the serial number of the printer?
me: Ok, xxxxxxxxx
HP: That printer is not under warranty any more you have to pay 21.00 for support.
me: Are you telling me that I need to pay 21.00 so you can tell me what HP's error code means?
HP: yes, or go find the error code on the HP web page
By this time my German temper (which you know most of the time I am calm and collect) I am irrate.
me: thanks for the non-support, the error is not on HP's web site
I then close the web page thinking some choice (like in Star Trek) colorful adjectives.
This is just crap. Why do I have to pay HP for information that is indigenous to them, dealing with their equipment and error codes that only they know?

Father's Day
Ode to a Father:
Who I am today is influenced, shaped, and molded by my relationship I had with dad. Dad's sense of humor, and desire to have fun has had a direct impact on my life and how I raised my own childern. The humors tricks and pranks that dad played on me, I passed onto my children. For example my kids would take off out the door, and then I would call them back and then asked that all important question,"How far would you have gotten if I would not have called you back?"
I love roller coasters, and that love of ridding rollercoasters is because dad loved to ride them, and he loved to take me and I love the feeling of loosing my stomach on that first big fall of the coaster. One time when were vacationing in California me and dad ventured out our own without mom's knowledege and found a rollercoaster on the beach, we rode about 5 times ( I really do not remember how many times, but it was alot ). It was sooooooooo much fun, as soon as we got of the rollercoaster we ran back to get inline so we could ride it again. I have done that with my kids, one time we were at Bush Gardens, and there were not many people, the coaster was open so, me and my kids did the same thing, we got off and then ran to get back on the rollercoaster and rode it numerous time; sooooooo much fun.
Dad would take me with him to the oil riggs and that was fun too, the food, the apple pies. I loved the noise of the oil rigg and big diesel engines that drove the drilling, I always slept best out there, I guess that is why I like my fan so much, the noise.
The one thing that I could not do with dad was to discuss intellectual ideas or the "meaning of life" and I do that with mom now, but dad just had not desire to contimplate the issues, I guess he just did not have it in him. I feel sad the way dad's life ended, I am not sure why his life ended the way it did, but I am sure some of the choices that he made in his life had a direct impact on the way his life ended, but I am glad of the time and fun that I had with dad.

Hockey
Autotuner asked me the other day if I was watching the NHL playoffs, and I told him that I was watching some of the playoffs but not like years ago. There is no Bobby Orr, Bobby Hull, or Bobby Clark. The players that I knew when I was playing hockey, plus that game that I watched recently there was nothing but hooking, so to me hockey is not as exciting as when I was playing hockey. I have to admit I still miss playing the game, I loved playing hockey, being on the ice. What I did not like was though was Dad refereeing my games, the other teams always thought Dad was harder on them, then us.
I might feel different or excited about hockey if I lived in Edmonton, here in Tampa football is the big thing here, plus it is hard to freeze water in your backyard to create your own rink.

The Olympic Games
I think that it is wrong that the athletes have to sign a piece of paper that basically states that the athletes will not criticize the Chinese government on human rights, or anything else the Chinese Secret Police deems not in the Chinese political interest. The Olympic games in China are to symbloize China becoming a 1st world nation, but at what price. As you know China is one of the world's top polluters, and that is the reason that the world's top marathoner is not running in Beijing, for fear that his lungs would be harmed by the pollution.
For the games to take place the Olympic area where all that athletes are lodging need food, water, and breathable air. So what is the Chinese government plan to accomlish master plan. First, shutdown a few powerplans ( in a 75 mile radius ) it does not matter if the local people have no power for 2 weeks, but it will cut down on the pollution. Second water (H2O); that plan is to divert enough fresh water (from the same 75 mile radius) to enshure that the athletes have enough water, it does not matter if the local people do not have enough water for two weeks. In short China does not have the infrastructure to host the Olympic games or the freedom for people for which I thought the Olympic games represented.

The Flood
There is no evidence that a world wide flood happened, but there is evidence that localized flooding happened, that at the time people would have thought that the whole earth was flooded because to them what they perceived (their surroundings) was the whole earth. Anyways, if whole earth was deluged by water, here is the math.
Since the Earth is only 10,000 years old not much geological change has happened, so I took Mt. Everest as the tallest place on earth, and then added 40 cubits to that height. There is some contention of what a cubit so I just took an average. They think a cubit was between 43 to 56 centimeters long so:
43 + 56 / 2 = 49.5 cm
49.5 cm = 0.000495 km
first the volume of the earth:
V = 4/3 x pi x r3
= (1.3 ) (3.14) (6,371)3
= 1055591332674.502 km3
second, volume of earth plus added the height of Mt Everest
Mt Everest = 8.848 km, add that to the radius of the earth
6371.0 + 8.848 + .000495 = 6379.85 km
Vearth + Mt. Everest = 4/3 x pi x r3
= (1.3)x(3.14)x(6378.85)3
= 1059995436864.56 km3
Volume of water fallen = Vearth - V e + Mt Everest
= 4404104190.06 km3
converting that to gallons of water = 1.163 x 1021
That is one more decimal place that all the water on the earth, and if that much water vapor was in the atmosphere, the atmospheric pressure would have been so great that life could not exist on the earth.

The world is going to end --- 7.6 billion years from now, when the sun engulfs the earth in a supernova. Life on earth only has 1 billion years left, buy then the expanding sun will have boiled the oceans away (fish fry). You will still be able to get a tan though, burnt to a crisp -- toasty; just like Quiznos.
The Sun is 4.5 billion years old, and since the birth of the sun it has consumed 1/2 of the hydrogen in the Sun's core. The temperature of the sun is 15.6 million degrees Kelvin at the core which converted to Celcius is 15,699,726.85 C. At the surface the temperature of the sun is 7000 degrees Celcius.

I was surfing the web, looking for information on a book that I am reading, and I came across this:
The word "Lucifer" in Isaiah 14:12 presents a minor problem to mainstream Christianity. It becomes a much larger problem to Bible literalists, and becomes a huge obstacle for the claims of Mormonism. John J. Robinson in A Pilgrim's Path, pp. 47-48 explains: "Lucifer makes his appearance in the fourteenth chapter of the Old Testament book of Isaiah, at the twelfth verse, and nowhere else: "How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!" The first problem is that Lucifer is a Latin name. So how did it find its way into a Hebrew manuscript, written before there was a Roman language? To find the answer, I consulted a scholar at the library of the Hebrew Union College in Cincinnati. What Hebrew name, I asked, was Satan given in this chapter of Isaiah, which describes the angel who fell to become the ruler of hell? The answer was a surprise. In the original Hebrew text, the fourteenth chapter of Isaiah is not about a fallen angel, but about a fallen Babylonian king, who during his lifetime had persecuted the children of Israel. It contains no mention of Satan, either by name or reference. The Hebrew scholar could only speculate that some early Christian scribes, writing in the Latin tongue used by the Church, had decided for themselves that they wanted the story to be about a fallen angel, a creature not even mentioned in the original Hebrew text, and to whom they gave the name "Lucifer." Why Lucifer? In Roman astronomy, Lucifer was the name given to the morning star (the star we now know by another Roman name, Venus). The morning star appears in the heavens just before dawn, heralding the rising sun. The name derives from the Latin term lucem ferre, bringer, or bearer, of light." In the Hebrew text the expression used to describe the Babylonian king before his death is Helal, son of Shahar, which can best be translated as "Day star, son of the Dawn." The name evokes the golden glitter of a proud king's dress and court (much as his personal splendor earned for King Louis XIV of France the appellation, "The Sun King").

That verse was used alot in many sermans that I listen to in church describing how Satan challanged God's authority in Heaven. I just read a book a few months ago detailing how the scribes from all the 6000 manuscripts that the Bible comes from and how verses were changed because that particular scribe thought it need to be changed to conform to what he thought was right.

The name evokes the golden glitter of a proud king's dress and court (much as his personal splendor earned for King Louis XIV of France the appellation, "The Sun King").

How Big is the Universe?
I have never really ever thought about "How Big the Universe" was until my physics teacher asked that simple question, which I readily anwsered about 26 billion light years in diameter, but as soon as I have anwsered I knew I was wrong. What I was stating was that the observable universe is about 26 billions light years ( because we can look back about 13.4 billion light years), assuming that the earth in is the middle of the universe, but even if the earth is not the universe is so vast I really do not think that it matters. Anyways, we have a horizon (so to speak) of light that we can observe, but buy the time the light reaches the earth the universe has expaned from where the light has not reached us yet.

Photons
Photons are massless and travel at the speed of light; approx 186,ooo miles per second. Since photons travel at the speed of light, time = 0 in reference to the photon. I have been wondering if you were on a photon would you be aware of the velocity that you are traveling at. What I mean -- velocity = distance / time. If time = 0, then your velocity = ??? well I guess your velocity would be undefined since you can not divide by zero. From the perspective of the earth it takes light approx 8.5 mins to reach the earth, so the photon has a velocity relative to the earth, but what of the photon it's self? how does the photon perceive it's self? If you were on top of a photon would you be aware of motion? and how would you perceive the universe?

The State of Physics -- String Theory or I guess M-Theory
From all the books that I have read on string theory (the ones by Brain Greene), and the shows that I have seen on NOVA about ST I had always thought that there was some underlying emperical evidence that was pointing to ST but ST is not that cut and dry. The book that I just finnished reading "The Trouble with Physics" by Lee Smolin has painted a dark picture for ST. ST has taken on some religious connotation's that can be eximplified by the argument that took place between the Church and Science, when the observations confimed that the Earth was not the center of the Solar System but the Sun was. When the Earth was the center of the Solar System, the system was so complicated to explain the motion of the sun and planets that it was ridiclous, but once the Sun was place at the center of the Solor System the motion of the Sun and Planets became simplified and able to make accurate prodictions relating the to Solar System.
With ST instead of epicircles you have dimensions, and with these dimensions you have equations that are so complicated that they can not be solve. From what I understand right now there are 11 dimensions in ST, in some other books of ST I have read that there are 16 dimensions; that just seems to complicated to me, and it does not represent the universe that I live in. The other problem that ST has is that the theory does not make any predictions and it is untestable. Once the new super collider comes operational, maybe ST can be tested and evaluated like other theorys have been.

Shadowpaint99, I had said that string theory was in a dissarry a while ago, and I think that I can answer your question as to why now. I am reading a new book, "The Trouble with Physics" by Lee Smolin, he is a theoretical physicist living in Canada. He worked on ST and now he is working on Loop Quantum Gravity which seems to give results relating to the real world. To the basics of science and how it relates to ST.
The basics of science -- the sceintific method:
1. Ask a Question
2. Do Background Research
3. Construct a Hypothesis
4. Test Your Hypothesis by Doing an Experiment
5. Analyze Your Data and Draw a Conclusion
6. Communicate Your Results
Example:
1. "Is the earth 10,000 years old?"
2. The earth strata, dinasours seem to indicate that the earth is older then 10,000.
3. I think the the earth is older then 10,000 years.
4. Determine how hot the earth is after 10,000 years by using heat equations -- yea that's that anwser.
5 & 6 After working out the heat equations, if the earths was 10,000 years old the earth would be 15,000 degrees C, so the earth is NOT 10,000 years old because the earth is colder then 15,000 C.
Will back to string theory, right now there is no way to apply the sceintific principal to ST, I emphasis there is NO empirical evidence for string theory, it is all math, and right now there is no way to do any experiments to prove string theory. This is causing some people to rethink their position and wonder if they have spent their lives for nothing because there is no hard evidence or experimental data for ST. When the new particle accelerater (the biggest) which is being built in Geneva, Switzerland it could provide the first emperical evidence for string theory or againest the theory but even that is not sure.
Brian Greene is the person I guess you could (lead physistics person on string theory), he is the person who did the show on NOVA said in his book "The Fabric of the Cosmos"; "Even today, more then three decades after its initial articulation, most string practitioners believe we still don't have a comprehensive anwser to the rudimentary question, What is string theory? ... Most researches feel that our current formulation of string theory still lacks the kind of core principle we find in the heart of other major advances."
There are equations in ST that are so difficult that cannot be solved. I think that the real problem is that ST does not model the real world, and lacks real empirical evidence.

Boat Owners
There were these two twins Jim Ryall and Bill Ryall. Jim was the owner of an old dilapidated boat. It just so happened Bill's wife died the same day Jim's boat sank. A few days later a kindly old woman saw Jim and mistaking Jim for Bill stated "I'm sorry to hear about your loss. You must feel just terrible." Jim, thinking about the boat said, "Hell no, fact is I'm sort of glad to be rid of her, she was a rotten ole thing from the beginning. Her bottem was all shriveled up and she smelled like an old dead fish, she was always losing water. She had a crack in the back and a pretty big hole in the front too. Every time I used her, her hole got bigger and she leaked like crazy. I guess what finally finished her off was when I rented her to four guys looking for a good time. I warned them that she was'nt very good, but they wanted to use her anyhow. The damn fools all tried to get in her at once and she split right up the middle. "
The old woman fainted!!!

NOVA had a show the other day about what happened in Washington State about 15,000 years ago, how glaciers from Canada created a huge dam ( Glacial Lake Missoul ) with trillions of gallons of water or 500 cubic miles of water estimated. When the dam broke it created the Scablands about 200 miles east of Seattle. The interesting was part was how the scientest discovered the process by which water (which is supercooled, below 32 C) interacts with the ice breaking the glacier apart which then creates deluge of water and ice. The process was discovered I think they said Greenland; in 1993 there was a glacier/water flood on a smallar scale but it was discovered that water under tremendous pressure water will not freeze, it then becomes "supercooled" and then starts running through fissures in the glacier, this in turn starts to weaken the structure of the glacier which then results in the water and ice creating a flood. This is what happened in the Scablands, but on a much larger scale it created valleys a 1000 feet deep, a waterfall 5 times wider then Niagara Falls and the evidence seems to point that is all happened over a 48 hour period. Interesting show.

J's new duty station will be Ft. Lewis, Washington. I will think he will have s good time there, he may end up with a cushey job, maybe. Ft. Lewis was the place where the some drug pushers decided to take on the Rangers that where stationed at Ft. Lewis. I do not remember all the details, it happened between 1989 or 1990, somewhere in that time frame, anyways from what I remember one of the Ranger's wives, or home was threated by some not too intelligent drug dealers that where in the neighorhood, and thought they owned the block. Idiots, do not threated Rangers, where there is one, there is many, they are brother's in arms. So, about 30 Rangers (if I remeber right) came armed with a basic load, and cleaned out the drug dealers. The dealers did not know what hit them, the neighborhood was cleaned out and everybody was happy except the police, and the CG. I do not remember what happen to the Rangers.
My first duty station was Ft. Riley, KS. I was with 1st Engineers ( 12B's Combat Engineers ) I was working in the S-3 shop, or operations for the Battalion (that is what S-3 does), or command and control. This where I drove a track vehicle; M577A2, Command Carrier, 13 tonnes of fun. Other then that, I really did not like being there, but the housing that me and Lily lived in was great, we really like our quarters after the new living room was added on. For the most part I was gone from 5:00am till about 6:00pm, I usually was home by 6:30. We had a idiot major who did not want to go home, it seemed that 4:30pm (when everybody else was going home) was time to start work with him, so we always had to do crap for him.
One weekend the whole Battalion was locked in because some idiot lieutenant, and sargent tried to steal M16A1 and colt .45. That Friday about 12:00pm a rumor started circling that a weapon was missing from one of the line companies arm's room. At 4:30 the whole Battalion was marched down to the motor pool for formation and the Battalion commader was there, since he was there we knew something was up. Anyways he said that a M16, and .45 was missing and we could not go home until it was found. Everything in the motor pool was tore apart, all storage containers emptied, but no weapons. So we had to go back to our offices and lay everything out and be inspected, and no weapon. So the whole Battalion stayed in the barracks Friday and Saturday night. On Saturday we had to walk the whole route by foot from the firing range to the barracks. On Sunday morning an anonymous phone call (so we were told) told where the weapons could be found, so once the weapons were recovered and secured in the arms room, we all went home. Fun in the Army.

J is still at Ft. Jackson going through AIT or Advanced Individual Training, in other words he is learning how to do his job which is "Light Wheel Mechanic." Basically working on Hummers, and other SUV's in the military motor pool's. I have talked to him a few times and things seem to be going alright for him.
I took my AIT at Ft. Belvior, Virgina and I had a blast. We had weekend passes all the time, and we (my class) all the time went into Washinton DC. I went to the Smithsonian and went through all the exhibits plus I saw all the other things to see in DC. You may be wondering how we got there since no one had a car, well there was this guy that we called Mr. Bill and he had a old school bus. I am not sure who or why he did this but he would come around on the weekends and pick up the GI's on post and then pass a hat around and everybody would put in a few dollars for gas and he would take us to DC. He had regular stops in DC at specific times, so that is how we travelled from the post to DC.
There was this guy who was in the National Guard and he was from the Virgin Islands, he never come out of his thermal underwear. He said that he was always cold, and we thought that is was hot at Ft. Belvior. Every night at last formation we had 13E (MOS) I forget what their job title was, but they were some kind of Nuclear specialist, anyways they allways ended formation by saying:
"Nuc them until they glow, and then shoot them in the dark"
I always thought was quit humours, Lily did not think so, ooooowellllll.

Taken from the Other World.
I am reading the book "Science a History 1543 - 2001" by John Gribbin. There was a mathemation who lived from 1768 to 1830 and his name was Fouier and he developed equations that dealt with time varying phenmena, which means he developed heat equations, how much time if takes for things to cool off. So googled Fouiers and found his equations and then did the math for if the earth was 10,000, let me tell you; NO I will show you.
1. I will use present day values (so I will not here any crap about things were different back then, which means that God can not create a consistant system, or he is playing games for the Baptist) of heat production from radioactive decay in the earth produce by 238U, 235U, 232Th, and 40K and has a value of 6.18 x 10-12W/kg (Turcotte and Schubert, 1982)
2. If you only take inaccount for agument sake heat flow from the mantle and crust
(6.18 x 10-12W/kg) x (4.0 x 1024kg) = 2.47 x 1013W
Fourier's Law of Heat Conduction
Q = K dt/dz
k = thermnal conductivity of rocks W/m oC
dt/ds = geo thermal gradiant or "rate of change"
Q = W/m2
total surface of the earth = 5.1 x 1014m2
2.47 x 1013W
----------------------- = .048 W/m2 surface heat flow
5.1 x 1014m2
3.00 W/m o is a average thermal conductivity of rocks
dt/dz = .048 W/m2
500 years will be used as 1/2 life for the radactive elements listed above
Now figure out the decay rate constant labda (ÊŽ) so we can caclculate the heat producdion of the past
t = 1/2 ln 2/ÊŽ or
ÊŽ = ln 2 / t1/2
using 500 years for t1/2 ÊŽ = 1.38 x 10-3
Hpast = Hpresent x eÊŽ(t-10)
Hpresent = 6.18 x 10-12W/kg
t - t0 = 10,000 years & ÊŽ
(6.18 x 10-12) x (e1.38 x 10-3 - 10,000)
= 6.08 x 10-6 W/kg
Hpast x (mass of mantle and crust) = total heat production
Hpast = (6.08 x 10-6W/kg) x (4.0 x 1024kg)
= 2.43 x 1019W
2.43 x 1019W
Q = --------------------- = 47724.58 W/m2
5.1 x 1014m2
47724.58 W/m2
------------------------ = 15,908oC/km
3.00 W/m
Which means if the earth was 10,000 years old the surface of the earth would be as hot as Hell (15,908 degrees Celsius).

The middle bear cub has completed Basic Training at Ft. Jackson, SC. Basic Training is one of those things that it is you are glad that your did it, but you never want to do it again. I did basic at Ft. Dix, NJ, and that post is nothing but sand. We marched everywhere and it felt you were taking 2 steps forword with 1 step back. Before we graduated, the last thing we had to do was a 12 mile road march with full ruckstack (about 40 to 50 pounds), and we had time limit of 4 hours. By the time we made it back to the barracks, I was dead tired, but there was a Eskimo in our platoon and he was tough. At the end of the roadmarch, as we were recovering( in our beds) the Eskimo(I do not remember his name) was walking around wondering what to do. I think he was the toughest person I ever met.
To me the toughest part of Basic Training was staying awake, and finding time to rest in the restroom. If we were in class and were falling asleep we were to stand up and move to the wall, or stand up and say" ZZZZZ monster get off by back" which we did alot. Since we were always marching, or sleeping or in class (believe me your 24 hours are filled up) it was hard sometimes to find time to go to the bathroom.
I had never fired a gun or in the Army a "weapon" until I join the Army. I am glad I never had to fire on somebody in my 12 years in the military, but I loved going to the firing range. It was fun shooting different types of weapons, and I like shooting the pop up targets with a M16A2, the best I ever did was 37/40, I missed 2, 300 meter targets.
I just wish that the little bear cub would have went in as an Officer, life is easier as an Officer in the Army.

Burger update: Whataburger has really delicious bacon, oinion ring, ranch burger right now, I give it two thumbs up. I was talking to a Whataburger representative and she said that in November Whataburger is bringing back their honey barbque chicken sandwich, which is most excellent. I highly recommend the chicken sandwich.

Hey Auto Tuner, I have been thinking of your concept that we are all dasies and that God is the gardener, that God has the right to pick whatever flower from the flower garden with the consequences of the actions being irrelavant, or of no repercussion. You can not equate the life of a flower with the life of human beings there is no comparision. A flower has no mother, father, siblings, or relationships outside the family body. So when you tell me that God has the authority to pick a flower in reality God is breaking up family relationships, and that if God put together a marriage that is under the Christian umbrella of marriage the marriage is being broken by God; for example when MM said that God took his friend home, that says to me God killed the guy, broke a marriage and left some children without a father. You cannot equate that to a gardener just picking some flowers.

I thought of a new dating system for History: BCP and ACP.
1. BCP -- Before Cell Phones
2. ACP -- After Cell Phones
What triggered this is that I am watching all old TV shows (we have Netflix) that I used to watch, and what I noticed right away is cell phone use in todays TV shows. In the pre-cell phone TV shows the means of communication was the pay phone, or just regular phone.

I had a friend in Grande Prairie that I always played chess with in school. His name was Wayne Showalter, and we always had a great time playing chess, he beat me more that I beat him, but by playing him so much it made me good. When I played other players I usually won. I remember the one chess game where I was getting wiped of the map and then I saw my chance, I scarfice my queen, and by doing the I created a trap for my opponent and I won; such a great feeling-- defeating someone on the chess board. I miss playing chess, I have tried playing over the internet, but it is not the same.
Anyways back to my story, last year I was looking through my yearbooks, and I came accross Wayne's picture, so I decided to "google" Wayne's name to see if I could find him. I came accross a Wayne Showalter, but I was not sure if that was him, but for whatever reason I dropped my search. Then this past Mondy I thought of Wayne again, so I decided to find Wayne's email address and email Wayne so see if this was the Wayne that I played chess with in school. End of the story, it was him. It has been about 35 years since I have seen Wayne, the net is cool.

Euclidean geometry has 5 postulates
1. Any two points can be joined by a straight line.
2. Any straight line segment can be extended indefinitely in a straight line.
3. Given any straight line segment, a circle can be drawn having the segment as radius and one endpoint as center.
4. All right angles are congruent.
5. Parallel postulate. If two lines intersect a third in such a way that the sum of the inner angles on one side is less than two right angles, then the two lines inevitably must intersect each other on that side if extended far enough.
It was by trying to prove the 5th postulate false that lead mathematician's to discover hyperbolic geometry. In fact Jesuit Girolamo Saccheri (1733) I guess is considered the father of hyperbolic geometry, he was trying to do just that.
All through High School and College I never considered that trig was really about objects on a 2-D plane. You plot points on a cartisian x-y plane, and draw your f(x) or object, but that really does not represent real world, because we live in a 3-D world, plus time, so you can consider that we are living in 3-D, space-time existance. From what little I understand of hyperbolic geometry, that is a more accurate representation of the universe that we live in.
a^2 + b^2 = c^2
Normally you have a problem in a trig math book were you figure out how high the plane is in the air. This formual does not take in to account the curvature of the earth, so what you are doing is finding a close approximation of how high the plane is above the earth. Also the plane is following a curved path, not straight. I need to learn more about hyperbolic geometry.

I am reading a new book -- "The Road to Reality; A Complete Guide to the Laws of the Universe" by Roger Perose. He is a mathmatician at Oxford ( in England ). I just read a chapter on Hyberbolic Geometry, and it was fascinating (now I want to take a class on HG). There is so much neat math to learn, a person could take math classes the rest of their lives. The mathmaticians that live in the 1700's and 1800's that developed that math that we do today, they were truly geniuses. Once a person had taked Calc, and DE, and other higher math classes, a person can appreciate the development and the thought that went into creating all the different math that exists today. I do, math is cool.
