I have always wonder why ancient civilizations like Egypt (which was around for about 3000 years), or the Roman Empire (1000 years ) did not develop a industrial revolution, and other modern conveniences that we enjoy. The Egyptians did build pyramids which is a testament to their civilization, but it seems to have halted there, the Romans developed concrete to build with, but there are no 80 floor skyscrapers in the Roman Empire. This has always puzzle me as to why did the ancient world technologically only develop to level not superior to ours. I think that I have a answer, in the book “Antiquity” by Norman F. Cantor it was stated by a German historian Franz Oertel, “A slave economy initially allowed an increase in productivity through augmenting the slave-labor supply, but eventually inhibited an industrial revolution , which would have increased productivity through the invention of new machinery. Roman products remain at a simple level and could be reproduced by handicraft.” In other words, creativity and innovation was stifled because of slave labor in the empire. I am sure that there are other factors to be considered as to why a civilization does not advanced technologically, but here is one answer

You Are a Prophet Soul |
You are a gentle soul, with good intentions toward everyone. Selfless and kind, you have great faith in people. Sometimes this faith can lead to disappoinment in the long run. No matter what, you deal with everything in a calm and balanced way. You are a good interpreter, very sensitive, intuitive, caring, and gentle. Concerned about the world, you are good at predicting people's feelings. A seeker of wisdom, you are a life long learner looking for purpose and meaning. You are a great thinker and communicator, but not necessarily a doer. Souls you are most compatible with: Bright Star Soul and Dreaming Soul |

I have always wondered what the turning point was or what was the cause for the modern world to become modern. I have read a number of history books lately and I have come to the conclusion that the printing press was the catalyst that caused the changes that the world needed to become modern. With the invention of the printing press, people’s ideas could be articulated, and then mass produced and distributed to the masses. Before the printing press, books were created by monks or Monks.Inc, and it took a great amount time and resources to create just one book. As a result the book was expensive and only the rich or nobility could purchase the book. What the printing press did was bring down the cost creating books, by mass producing them, and then anybody could purchase a book. The printing press also standardized spelling of words and grammar, thus facilitating the exchange of ideas between people and nations. A direct result of the printing press was the creation of libraries, which helped to spread knowledge. The printing press enabled knowledge to be share and expanded so that the modern world could be born. That is what I think.

I have asked "why" all my life. I have always desired to know why things are the way they are, and to know the "truth" of my life and the world. The otherday I was lunching with my two favorite girls in my life, and I was struck with the thought that if God is infinite then God is undefinable, and if God = "truth", then it seems logical to me that "the truth" is undefinable, that means then there are endless possiblities of "truth" in relation to God. That means there is no real truth or truth changes, which = the nature of God, who is infinite and cannot be placed in box. This seems to shed a little light on why life is the way it is on planet earth, there are endless possiblities being lived out here, and people are trying to figure it out.

Before I took this test, I had seen the movie Serenity and I had watch the short lived TV series "Firefly." This TV program seemed to strike a chord with me, and I felt like if I could roam universe I would like to live my life this show/movie. So what sci-fi profile are you?
You scored as Serenity (Firefly). You like to live your own way and don't enjoy when anyone but a friend tries to tell you should do different. Now if only the Reavers would quit trying to skin you. |

I choose Inca Runner 6 because when I run (which I love to do) I always make believe that I am an Inca running taking a message of great importance to the Inca king. That is how information was disseminated in the Inca kingdom, there were runners at various intervals along the information highway of the kingdom, and message or messages were passed from runner to runner until the message or messages arrived at the correct destination. When I run I have always imagine myself as a Inca runner on the last leg of the journey to bring the very important message to the king, and that is how I have always motivated myself to run. The number 6 comes from when I played hockey, so because of that the number 6 has always been my number. So when I was thinking about starting a blog I wanted a name that would be unique, wahla, "Inca Runner 6."
