We are in the process of remodeling our love nest. We decided that we wanted colorfull dishes, this is what we bought.

I rebuilt J computer this week. I gave him a new motherboard, with a screaming AGP graphics card( 8X, it had 512 megs of onboard ram) , 2 gigs of ram, 400 watt power supply, and a 20 inch monitor. I thought that Win XP ran fast with 1 gig of ram, and that there would be no difference, but I was wrong. There is a noticable difference, windows reponds faster, so I am thinking about adding another gig to my laptop, which means if I add, I have to add to Lily's laptop too.

I remember when I bought my Vic 20 a number if years ago. I remember the salesman telling me that 8k of memory was all I was every going to need. He was wrong. I then bought a Tandy TL/2 that had 640k, and then I bought a 40 meg hard drive to go with it. I was then told, no matter what that was all I was every going to need. He was wrong too.

The first thing I did when I brought my Tandy home was take it apart( now when I look back, that was really stupid because I could have killed my computer) and examine everything inside the CPU. And my Tandy had an 8086 processor,"OOOOOOOOOOOO" I was smoking. I guess I am going from 8k of ram to 2 gigs of ram, that is all I will ever need!!!????

I was reading a few weeks ago at Space.com that they have determined the rotation of two Black Holes. One was spinning at a rate of 960 revolutions per second, and the other was revolving at a rate of 1,110 rps. That is fast. I then wondered what the rotation of the Sun was in relation to the Black Holes. Well, the rotation of the sun is 26 to 28 days, the rotation period depends on which part of the Sun you are analysing.

This brings me to another thought. When you look at the sun( never look at the sun directly) you are seeing the sun as it was 8 & 1/2 min ago. That always amazes me. When you look up at the night sky, you are seeing photons(light) that have traveled millions of light years, and the photons could be 13 billion years old that are colliding with your cornea as you look up.

If God, Mohammed, or Allah is offended, why do they need lawyers, or people to defend their honor? They can just send down lighting bolts (since they are all powerfull)and destroy the infidel's. Simple and to the point.

Which science fiction writer are you?

Since MM does not read my blog anymore, I guess I can say anything without hurting or offending his feelings. It seems to me that MM's knowledge of historical events as they are related to the Bible are bias; I guess I just thought that MM would be more of a scholarly nature since he has been in college and not so closed minded and that he would say what he thought about stuff, not what other people told him to say. Anyways, I have always been interested in "the truth" as the truth related to the world, universe, and the Church since I was brought up in that environment. As far as I was concerned the Bible was fact, and I just assumed that there was empirical evidence to back up everything that I had learned in Sunday School, and evidence for all the different sermons that I had heard over the years.

I read my first ancient history book a number of years ago, the book was about the Greek civilization, Alexander the Great, and there was detailed account of the Egyptian civilization, and the book stated that there was no evidence that Joseph( coat of many colors) never existed, and book also said that the Egyptian civilization was well documented. I remember that the statement really disturbed me. How could that be? Joseph was second to the Pharaoh, plus there was a great famine of 7 years. How could that not be in the Egyptian history records? Since then I have been on a sort of a quest to understand history, and how the Bible was written, and to understand the world.

Now, do not get me wrong I do not think that the Bible is invalid; I just think that the Bible is man's attempt to explain the world but it fails in that aspect. A person needs a philosophy to live by, and Jesus had a good answer to how to live your life. Jesus said," Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Lily and I may not always live up to those words, but we try our best with what we know about ourselves, and the people that cross our paths that we try to help. Back to history.

I read the Epic of Gilgamesh and there is a flood story in the tale. It is then I realized that this story was before the Bible and it was written by about 500 years before the Bible was written, so the only conclusion that I could conclude was that it was copied by the Jews when they were writing the Old Testament, not God. The last few books that I have read have explain how different myths from that time period have been incorporated into the Old Testament. The last book that I read stated the what the Israelites wrote was not necessary a fib, or tale, lie, but that what they were writing was their understanding of life, and how they as a people were coming to terms of life in that time period of which they were living in. The Old Testament also served another purpose; it gave the Israelites an identity, separate from the people from which they came from.

This was the plan this morning:

1. Bring S to school with us, because I needed to take him to the probation office.
2. Leave S in my lab and go and get my blood work, ( I was going to stop a the golden arches because I could not eat anything until I did my blood work) then come back and get S.
3. Get S and to his appointment and then take him home.

What really happen:

1. I forget that we had to take J to work, so we took J to work and dropped him off.

2. Arrived at the college, and found out that S forgot his paper work, sooooo had to go back home and get paperwork.

3. On the way to S appointment, stopped to do my bloodwork, but no McDonalds( and I was hungry).

4. Almost to the probation place, S says "Where are we", I say "almost there", S says"But I need to go to Amscot" , I say" I did not know that." So we back track( going faster then the speed limit) about 5 miles and we have 20 min until S appointment.

5. Get to Amsoct, 15 mins to go. I rip out of the parking lot cross the road missing a cop by inches, and then I decide to take a short cut, but I am not exatly sure of the route, I think to myself; "Self you are the Greatest, it will all work out, and you will get there on time." Anyways I am speeding down the road and I pass another cop, I thought I was going to qet a ticket maybe, but not, so I am weaving in and out of traffic doing about( not sure but faster then everyone else.) I finally make it to S appointed place with 3 mins to spare. All done in 2 hours.

I like the first plan better.

Auto Tuner 1, how old is the earth?

I do not understand why Microsoft in their wisdom decided to make IE 7 an update, why? Not all web based software will not work with IE7 until the software is updated by what ever software package that you are using. In my computer labs at HCC I have a number of web software programs that use IE as a portal for their software package, and my main program will not be updated until this summer. There are a number of other community colleges and universities using the same math program as I use in my labs so they have the same problem as I do. It would also be reasonable to assume that there are business out there have the same problem that I have about using IE that whatever they are doing that IE7 will not work for them either. So why is IE7 an update? Why make a program that does not work with all web based software, and make the decision to make the program downloadable through the update process so that potentially a person not knowing what they are doing could screw up a number of higher education institutions and businesses? What is Microsoft doing and why?

I do not remember Jesus every saying to anyone that He would have nothing more to do with them, as far as I can remember the only time Jesus was ever mad was over money and the religious leaders of the time. It was the religious leaders that had all the problems, nothing has changed in 2000 years.

As to the moon, and earth question here is the answer, you are using faulty data. The earth is 4.5 billion years old, that has been well established -- you need to do some reading. What is a "not?" Which version of the Bible is inspired? You never answered my question. Like I said before there is little empirical evidence that Jesus even existed, you know what "empirical" means right? plus Nazareth as a town was barely in existance when Jesus was alive. I thought this stuff was all true until I started reading history books, and found out was was not true. The church as a vested interest in this, that was what the inquisition was all about.

You tell me, what makes a female? What makes a male? xx-chromosome(female) xy-chromosome (male) There are people in this world who are in male bodies, but there genentic makeup is opposite of their body, do you deny that?. Jesus had no y-chromosome so what does that mean? The y-chromosome only comes from a human male.

I guess Jesus was a female in a male body, because there was no y-chromosome in his DNA, just xx.

Ok, it is time to rant and rave. I think that the Mac commercials that they have been running on TV are ridiculous. Just for your information I have used Apple/Mac computers before and found them cumbersome. Anyways, these commercials would make a person think that IBM compatable computers are archaic and antiquated, which is not the case. If Mac's are so great then why did they change to Intel processors, which non-apples have been using for quite some time now. If Mac's are so great why do they only have 2%-5% of the computer market; that is partly's Apple's marketing stragedy fault (but fact is that Apple is barely a blip on the pc market, they cost more, and software is more expensive), so I do not see the advantage of owing a Mac.

Why did Soloman have 300 concubines? I guess God thought it was allright because since the Bible is inspired from God and God says nothing against the 300 concubines, it is just fine.

What is it about human sacrifice that ancient man decided that the gods needed to be appeased by killing innocent people? How or why has the idea of human sacrifice been propagated through various cultures through out the world?

Now, I can understand why ancient man or cultures dreamed up the idea of god or gods; to explain the world as they perceived it, but why did someone have to die? Even sacrifice childern so that you could have rain, or a good harvest. This kind of practice is seen from the middle east to the Inca world and previous cultures before the Inca nation. I have not read anything that would explain this. The other amazing thing is that the people accepted the sacrifical killing as a way of life. How can you accept a god that desires to kill people, or your childern? I do not understand that. Even in the Bible when God asked Abraham to sacrifice Isacc, ( I already know all the theological arguments sooooooo, do not enlight me--- I know) this just seems barbaric to me.

The other side of the coin is that the human sacrifice did not always work, there was drought, famine or whatever, but they kept on with this practice; why? In the Inca world people gave of them selfs willing, from what I have read there was an endless supply of people willing to die for the gods. Why do you have to die for god anyways, how does dying add to the betterment of god? Since god created you, he/she then demands your death for appeasment, rain, or better life for the rest of your family? This whole concept of dying for god I do not understand how it started or why people just accepted it.

Ok, I am getting flack from the peanut gallery(you know who). Yes the Bible is on CD, DVD, and the internet, but not on podcast.

I do not think a person can understand the Bible until you have read it in the orginal Klingon.

When were Adam and Eve married? Were they married? Do not remember reading in my Bible that they were married. Fornication between consenting adults.

My last post has me thinking, updating the Bible to our culture:

1. Instead of " Sermon on the Mount", "Sermon in the Football Stadium"

2. Turning water in wine-- turning coolaid into wine.

I think that God should update the Bible to modern culture, and distribute the Bible on CD, podcast, and DVD.

Well this semister is done, and if feels great to have my finals behind me. It was hard taking 3 classes, but it was also challenging, invigorating, and pleasurable. I enjoy being a math, science person, learning the mysteries of the universe, why things operate the way they do, and understanding the physical laws that govern the cosmos.

Now that I have taken DE I think that I have taken the highest math course a person can take, now the rest of my classes are going to be science classes-- physics, chemistry, well I guess that is not quite true I am taking linear algebra this spring(I think this well be my last math class), anyways I will be taking physics( I already have taken some physics classes, but I need to pick up physics /w calculus classes) and chemistry classes.

It is strange, you get to a point where you just want to take your final, and be done with the class. Once that happens all the pressure of doing homework and studying is lifted from your shoulders, that is how it feels to me. So I feel great, I am done with that class, but the next day I start missing the pressure, and the studying-- just weird.

So what do you think about this? I saw this on PBS and thought that is was great.

Well, I had my final for Chemistry Lab last night. Chemistry lab turned out to be more enjoyable then I ever thought, I started Chemistry with some trepidation because it had been a long time since I had taken any chemistry. I am glad thought that I have taked all my math courses, that just that made chemistry easier, plus math teaches you how to think logically and you can take that skill to all of your other classes.

If eating hotdogs is not right, then I want to be wrong.

Which OS are You?

MM I have a question or two. We have recorded history for about 5,000 to 6,000 years, approx. The Old Testament was not written(started the Old Testament) until about 1400 BC, approx. Why did God wait so long to inspire someone to write the Old Testement? Why is the Old Testament not the Oldest Book in the world? before all the legends and stories from other civilizations? Would not God want the "Truth" out there from the beginning of time for man to read? Would not God want His flood story first? The Bible should be the origin of original thought, but it is not, why?

The Perodic Table is quit logical in it's configuation. It is amazing how the elements can be arranged by the number of protons, and how valance electrons fit into the arrangement of the table. It has been years since I have taken a chemistry( actually the last chemistry class I had taken was high school) I was not sure how I was going to like chemistry. There has been alot of change in chemistry, and I am having fun learning all the new chemistry stuff. One of the new things I really like working out are Lewis Structures , I find these problems fun and challenging, I like working out these kinds of problems.

Me and Lily go to Wal-Mart a fair amount of the time, Wal-Mart has some of the best oatmeal-raisin cookies that I have every had. They are too die for. A cold glass of milk and 5 or 6 cookies and I am in cookie heaven. :-) I do not think that anybody can make these cookies any better, other then Mother or Lily. And that's the truth.

If there was a class for Seinfield I would take it. I think that Seinfield was a brilliant comedy show, they were able to take subjects and world events and transform them into comedy routines.

I heard this song on The Bear, what made me listen to it was that I heard the word "Alberta." I feel Edmonton calling me.

TV Land has on their web site the top 5 Star Trek shows, at least their opinion of the best 5 Star Trek episodes. I agree with one of their picks, "City on the Edge of Forever" that episode would be in my list of the top 5 episodes of Star Trek. My list is as follows in no particular order:

1. The Balance of Terror.
2 City on the Edge of Forever.
3 The Trouble with Tribbles.
4 Piece of the Action.
5 The Naked Time.

They are showing all the old Star Trek shows on a local TV station here in Tampa. I have seen these shows a milliion times, but I can watch them again and again. If I could live in the Star Trek world, I would not want/desire to be a captain or anything to do with command, I would be a Science Officer, of course working in the astrophysics lab of the Star Ship. It would be so cool traveling the universe and observering all the different phenomena in space and working different research projects.

What is the nature of time? I have been thinking about time again and what is the relationship between the speed of light and gravity. When the speed of light or close to the velocity of light is achieved time passes more slowly, strong gravitational field has the same effect on time. In the presence of strong gravity, like a black hole, time also slows down. Why is time effected that way? Why is time not a constant? Why is time not like the speed of light? Why is time relative to the observer?

Einstein was the first person to start thinking about space-time, and the warping of space time by gravity. I have always wondered if you can warp space with gravity like space was warped in Dune. I have wondered if you can trade "the spice" for "gravity" and then bend space or fold space using gravity. I read a book a long time ago that wrote about experiments that the Navy was conducting using huge electo magnetics on ships and then passing the ships through the magnetic field, strange things happened to the ship and the people. That is about all I remember of the book. The warping of space-time is also the idea behind "Star Trek" the warp engines "warp space," thus the Star Ship is able to traveling faster then light. Maybe the relationship that time has between speed and gravity is space itself; resulting in the term space-time. I am only speculating , I am no expert, just thinking about what all the physics books said that I have read over time.

So I bring up the document in ms word(2003) and it interoperates the document as a text file, which means that it was NOT a ms document but some other file format. So some of the characters in the document are converted to nonsence ascii characters , and the person asked me "why is my document like this?" So I told her " you did not use ms word, but you used a different word processing program, so you have to retype part of your paper, and then reformat your paper," but I was nice.

Life in the 21st Century .

Well the world is going to end in a big bang or explosion of magma. I have seen a number of shows on supervolcanoes, and I watched another one last night on NOVA. Supervolcanoes are classified as volcanoes that can deliver the destructive force of a small asteroid, I do not remember the exact number but there are 4 or 6 supervolcanoes around the world. One is right in our backyard, under Yellowstone National Park. The last eruption by a supervolcanoe was 75,000 years ago; Lake Toba, Sumatra, Indonesia and ejected 2,800 km^3 of volcanic ash into the atmosphere. That amount of material in the atmosphere will and did cause a world climate change, it is esimated that 1/4 of the poplulation ceased to exist.

Like I said before, Yellowstone is a supervolcanoe. The magma pit that is underneath the park is estimated about 35,000 square miles, and 5 miles deep. The last time that Yellowstone erupted was about 600,000 years ago. I have read and seen different stats on Yellowstone that states that Yellowstone has a cycle of about 600,000 to 800,000 years between eruptions. That last eruption was 640,000 years ago in Yellowstone.

What would my life be like if Robert would have been born? I have been thinking of the implications of that for a few days now, and I have arrived at some conclusions. If you have ever read the bith order book you know that the order in which you were born has a direct impact on your personality, and how you percieve the world. If Robert had lived the result would have been Hogrider would have replaced Blackwolf, then would have come Blackwolf, then Autotuner, but no MM-- I guess, not sure were the mother hen would have stopped laying egges. I think that there was another egg that did not hatch, but I am not sure were in the order of the hatching of the eggs that was.

On of the reasons that I do not mind being on my own, and the job that I do (I fit the IT personality traits, and why I desire to be an astrophysist) I believe is because I am the first born. The first born is the first in the world which results in the independence ( and to me I am a loner to a certain extent and I am not bothered by that.) of the person. Plus, the desire to do anything on my own, not relying on anybody for help.

I have a hard time seeing both sides of the problem, but if I was the second child I guess my outlook on life would be different. I do have some of the traits of a second born though. I would probably not be working in computers( a loner job to a certain extent), and not wanting to understand the universe( the desire to be an astrophysicist). There is a part of me that wishes I had an older brother, but at the same time I am comfortable with who I am, and happy with my life.

How to Please Your I.T. Department

1. When you call us to have your computer moved, be sure to leave it buried under half a ton of postcards, baby pictures, stuffed animals, dried flowers, bowling trophies and children's art. We don't have a life, and we find it deeply moving to catch a fleeting glimpse of yours.

2. Don't write anything down. Ever. We can play back the error messages from here.

3. When an I.T. person says he's coming right over, go for coffee. That way you won't be there when we need your password. It's nothing for us to remember 700 screen saver passwords.

4. When you call the help desk, state what you want, not what's keeping you from getting it. We don't need to know that you can't get into your mail because your computer won't power on at all.

5. When I.T. support sends you an E-Mail with high importance, delete it at once. We're just testing.

6. When an I.T. person is eating lunch at his desk, walk right in and spill your guts right out. We exist only to serve.

7. Send urgent email all in uppercase. The mail server picks it up and flags it as a rush delivery.

8. When the photocopier doesn't work, call computer support. There's electronics in it.

9. When something's wrong with your home PC, dump it on an I.T. person's chair with no name, no phone number and no description of the problem. We love a puzzle.

10. When an I.T. person tells you that computer screens don't have cartridges in them, argue. We love a good argument.

11. When an I.T. person tells you that he'll be there shortly, reply in a scathing tone of voice: "And just how many weeks do you mean by shortly?" That motivates us.

12. When the printer won't print, re-send the job at least 20 times. Print jobs frequently get sucked into black holes.

13. When the printer still won't print after 20 tries, send the job to all 68 printers in the company. One of them is bound to work.

Differential equations is elegant math, there is no other way to express the feeling that I feel when I solve a DE equation. I am amazed at how all the math classes that I have taken has cumulated with DE. I can remember being in some of my math classes and I was wonder what was the purpose of particular math process or formula, and now I know, the purpose is so a person can solve a DE equation. I can look back and see the purpose all the different math classes. By taking DE a person can understand all the math classes and why you learned math in the order that the classes were offered, they were building blocks.

I guess you want to talk about God's will, implying that people who are not living by your defination of "God's will" are not living to the full potential of life here on planet earth. So what is God's will? God's will in the Old Testament involved the slaughter of women and children, and the genocide of whole populations of people. If you look in all the laws in Deuteronomy( God's will) if a person had a pimple and the priest deemed the pimple unclean( because the priest had no understanding of what the difference between a disease and a pimple) it was God's will to burn your house down. How can a woman's period make a woman unclean? That is the way God made women, so how could women be deemed unclean, but according to the laws which came from God, a women was unclean. That was God's will.

Let's look at other examples of God's will. If God reveals to you (MM) that your wife is to die, but you can not grieve about it, and then you need to just wear a loin cloth, then bury it and then dig it up in three years, and put it on. Are you going to do it? That's God's will.

Look at when Israel was rebuilding the wall, and the prophet told all the men that they had to divorce their cannanite wives. Those wifes had children, and you know how hard it was for a women to survive in the ancient world, owell. I thought divorce was only acceptable if someone in the marrage cheated or maybe God's will changed between to old and new testament?, but God is the same as yesterday and tomorrow. How come it was alright for Judah to have sex with a suposive prostitute? because they were going to kill Tamar for prostituting her self, but when they found out that Judah had sex outside of marrage, nothing is said of him. I guess God's will is different for different situations and people?

Look at churchs or God's will today. I guess God will for one person to drive a Lexus, and then God will's another person to drive a Ford? or a broken down Ford? and they are both in the same church!! I have seen people on the religious station explain that God blessed them with millions of dollars and that they are in God's will, what about all the other Christians who are in God's will? Look at football games. I have seen football players declare that God helped then win the football game, but what about the Christains on the losing team? I guess God's will for them was for them to lose the football game. I guess it is God's will for some churchs to be poor, and God's will for some churchs to be rich? Are they not all worshipping the same God? I do not understand God's will.

The universe has been expanding for about 12 to 15 billion years, some think 14.5 billion years. I was thinking about time travel, and according to the Theory of Relativity time slows down as you approach the speed of light or C. Tme is relative though. What this means is that if you were on the Star Ship Enterprise and accelerated to the speed of light, time would seem normal to you, and on the earth time would seem normal too.

Let's say you are gone for one year traveling at the speed of light( or close to the speed of light) and then you come back to the earth. Time on the Star Ship = 1 year, but time on the earth would = (I am just guessing) 1000 years, so time is relative to your position and speed, but the thing is that you can not travel into the future, only backwards, or what seems backwards in time.

Time started at the Big Bang( even that is in contention by some scientist, but the universe is expanding so time had a starting point; time = 0) so in a way time is also linear( even though space-time can be warped by gravity), as the universe expanded, time marched on so to speak from the center of the singularity( that is the term that physicist use to discribe the infinitely small and dense matter before the big explosion) . My point is that you can not have time beyond the expansion of the universe, so there is no travelling into the future, because the future is not there to travel too. So all those Scifi movies were the people travel into the future 1000's of years just can not happen.

I am reading a book about the middle ages, and I came accross this passage:

"...Genghis Khan (1167 - 1227), the greatest conqueror and butcher in all human history ... The Mongol Empire was the largest land empire in history."

That started me thinking about Daniel and the story of the statue that Nebuchadnezzar has a dream about, and how the statue represented world history, or the nations of the world. From all the preachers, books and stuff on the religious TV networks when I heard about Daniel preach as prophecy, the statue was always interpreted the following way:

1. the head was Babylon -- gold
2. the breast and arms silver -- Alexander the Great
3. belly and thighs brass -- the 4 generals that took over after Alexander kicked the bucket
4. legs of iron -- the Roman Empire
5. feet of iron and clay-- waaalaaaa we jump to the 21st century and that is the loose confederation of the European nations that we have to day.

Plus, the statue represents the kings, rulers, or people in power, and the changing the form of power from absolute power to demrocacy or people that have power but it is not total power that they yield I guess ( that's how it was explain to me). So in this grand scheme of nations in the world that the statue represents where are the following nations:

1. the Inca nation
2. the Mongal nation-- the greatest land nation in the history of the world. You would think that it would be part of the statue. Plus, Genghis had total, absolute power. Maybe he was not important enough?
3. the Egyptain Nation? Ancient Egypt was a nation that rule the world of and on for 3000 years you would think there would be a place in the statue for Egypt.

I am always amazed when I see people in the Middle East celebrating or protesting whatever. How are they celebrating you asked, -- I say: "by firing automatic weapons into the air, do they not understand that what goes up, has to come back down!! " From what I have seen on TV they fire many rounds up into the air in the crowds of people , plus there always seems to be 4 or 5 people who are firing automatic weapons at the same time, but I am sure there are many more people shooting automatic weapons that are not shown on the TV. I just do not understand how the leaders and police of these nations let this stuff happen, I am sure people are killed from all the rounds that are falling back to the earth at 9.8 meters per sec^2. Why does this happen?

I have been thinking about this for some time. Cancer is a business, a 800 billion dollars a year business. Some of these cancer treatments cost 100's and 1000's of dollars, sometimes people lose all their savings or their house or other worldly possessions because the cancer treatments cost so much. Just for your information 1500 people a week die from cancer. We or American interest, companies and government agencies have been doing cancer research 30 or 40 years maybe? I am not sure how long cancer research have been conducted but research has been going a long time. Big Business controls the world to a certain extent, it is Big Business that does the drug research and decides what drugs they will bring to the market in concert with the FDA. On Lily's blog there is a link to Biloblog( he is a doctor and his blog does not seem to be working, not sure why) and he has a blog about the FDA and how their interest are not necessary what is best for America even though they are a government entity and their duty is to protect the American people.

What if a cure for cancer has been discovered, what are the implications or ramifications of such a discovery? Are the drug companies going to give up 800 billion dollars a year? What if a pill has been developed and it is just sitting on the shelf somewhere? Look at the jobs that are related the cancer business, maybe one pill could make all the research and related jobs disappear. Would "Big Business" let that happen? Would all the research universities let that happen? If cancer was cured, all these research institutions would lose federal grant money. There is a vested interest in keeping cancer from not being cured no matter these Drug Companies or research insitutions declare as their stated purpose in seeking a cure for cancer.

I remember reading books 15 or 20 years ago that were of a controversial nature in the sceintific world. The present book that I am reading now the author writes about the meterite that collided with the earth about 65 million years ago which resulted the destruction of the dinasours, and changing the earth's climate. The author anaylsis of all the evidence (geological and fossil ) that has been gathered over the last 20 years and now the theory is not so controversial anymore, but it is still debated by sceintist. I first read about this theory when we were in Alaska, I bought the book through the Quality Paperback Book Club which me and Lily had joined.

The "Continental Drift Theory" was another subject that I read about and at the time the sceintist were debating if the earth( plate tectonics) really existed, and were the continents really joined together in the distance past of the earth. Now a person can read about the theory and it is treated like a fact. I remember reading these books and feeling like I was on verge of some scientific discovery because I was reading the newest theories being but forth by the scientific community.

I still feel that way when I read books on new theories, like the newest books on "string theory" which deals with the basic building blocks of matter(atoms). There was a great program on PBS called "The Elegant Universe", the material is presented in such a way that a person does not need to be a scientist to understand, you only need to be curious of the universe and how it operates to be able to watch this show. I can hardly waite until until I take a quantum theory/ mechanics class at USF, that will be cool.

Boy, I sure could go for some Oreo's and milk. I think that I will go the store and buy some, and think about Africa while I dip the Oreo's in cold glass of milk--- scrumptious.

Why is 2/3's of the earth cover by water that man can not drink or use for agriculture?

I have always loved reading Physics books, I bought my first physic book when I was 16( I think), anyways it was a book on particle physics, and I remember how fascinated and amazed I was after I had read this book. The book was all about bombarding elementry particles with other elementry particles and when they broke apart you then could discover what the different particles were composed off. Ever since I read that book, physics has always been passion of mine beside computers. When I look at pictures from the Hubble, or I look at picture on Space.com I am always amazed. I am always thinking of the physical forces (gravitational, or what ever force that is needed to form the celestial object), or I am amazed at the simple things like watch water drops, drop and understanding the physics of what is involved for the water to drop.

I am taking Differential Equations this semister. Remember taking Algerbra and wondering why I am taking this, or what good is this going to do for me? Really you say that almost about any math class, anyways it all comes together with DE. Everything you learnt in Trig, Algerbra, Calc I, II, III all comes together in DE. DE it's self is not hard, it is remembering how solve the equations from all the previous math classes that is hard, I am glad that I kept all my math notes.

I read a book that stated that Osama bin Laden was basically fighting the Crusades, and that the United States( we are the current superpower in the world) had replaced the Imperial Nations (England and France, and the Catholic Church) that fought in the Crusades during the 11th through the 15th centuries. The author stated that because we (America, Bush Administration) did not understand that concept that the "war on terror" would never be won by the West. I am not sure that if that is true, I just think that bin Laden is fighting for his own political gain, and popularity in the Muslim world. I know that there are different Muslim sects, and they differ on the interpertation of the Koran, and how they view each other. I guess it is probably like the Catholics and Protestants killing each other, and differ on how the Bible is interperated, plus the Catholics have more books in the Catholic Bible, than the Protestant's bible. Anyways I am just related the conflicts in the Muslim world with the conflicts in the Protestant world trying to understand how, or why Muslims seem to kill each other so easily and without reguard to the collateral damage that these car bombs and other explosions caused by bin Laden and his crew.

If the Crusades are the cause for bin Laden's actions againest the West, particularly the United States in Iraq than my question is what was the cause of the Crusades ( who started what), and why have the Crusades left this indelible mark in the Muslim world that people ( particular young people) with there whole life ahead of them are willing so easily give up their lives. The Crusades were orginally started because Jerusalem was captured by the Muslims, and Pope Urban ( the pope at the time) deceided that Jerusalem need to be free from the Muslim infidels because people could not make a pilgrimages to Jerusalem in the same manner before when Jerusalem was under the control of the Byzantine Empire. Plus, "The Church of the Holy Sepulchure" was distroyed by the Muslims, this also added to the cause of the Crusades. As a side note I am reading,"A History of the Middle Ages," so I have been reading about the Crusades but one particular passage caught my eye:

"Five days later, on the night of July 13-14 the Christians attacked from there moveable towers and in the morning entered and captured the city(Jerusalem). In their frenzied exhileration the Crusaders showed no mercy but massacured all the Jews and Moslems they could find. Some ten thousand of them, according to one chroniclar, were beheaded in Soloman's Temple alone, and "had you been there, your feet would have been stained up to the ankles with the blood of the slain."" Another chroniclar described the massacure by saying that blood of the victims was up to the horse's bridals. This passage just stuck me because the brutality done by Christians in the name of God. It just did not seem right, and in my opinion leaves a dark mark on the history of the church.

Anyways, there were other Crusades with vairing degrees of sucess that the European nations had, but it seems to me that the Muslims came out on top after it was all over. I think that the Crusades are a convient excuse for bin Laden, because to my understanding the Crusades were started by the Muslims by destroying a Christian shrine that could have been left alone, I am sure that when the shine was destroyed they knew the impact it would cause in the Western Christendom. I am not a expert on the Crusades my knowlege is limited by what I have read online, and the book that I am reading of the Crusades. If bin Laden is fighting because of what happened in the first Crusade then I guess we should also be fighting the Jews too, but the slaughter was by the European nations, sooooo I just do not know if the Crusades are a valid reason.

Why is this existance (life) defined by it's opposite? What I mean is that evil defines good, evil defines the parameters of "what is good." Can we know good, without evil? or is "good" intrinsic in it's nature? God is good so we say, but for God to be "God" is not God an infinite being? What is the nature of a infinite being? is there a intrinsic nature to God? Is not an infinite being composed of infinite realities? It has always bother me that the Bible defines God and the parameters of God, but God is a infinite being. How can God be defined by finite beings in nature and understanding? Is it that because God is composed of infinite realities that good and evil exist at all? What started me thinking about this is that quantum mechanics states that there are infinite realites, and I was just thinking of the ramifcations of this statement?

Can religion exist with out evil being present? If everthing here in the world was "good," would we have all these different religions trying to explain the world and the way it is? I have always wonder if good and evil where composed of the same medium. By this I mean, take for instance light. The color of the light is "white", but shine light through a prizm, waaalu, you have a spectrum-- light is broken into different colors, the colors of the rainbow. This existance ( present reality) is the prizm that is dividing good and evil into it's seperate entities that we percieve?

Well I am back home from all my travels, only had one day fishing( that was a bummer, I was looking forward to 2 or 3 days, but at least I went fishing), it was just fun casting, and contemplating my life. I had read a theoretical physics book a few years ago, and the author started out comparing how a fish's reality observing a human through the water compares to human observing the cosmos from the earth. So every time I look at a fish or water I am always reminded about how I observe reality and precieve my surroundings in this vast universe.

I was watching VH1 classics and I saw a Heart concert on TV. I have always liked a number of Heart songs, but there is one song in particular that seems to speak to my spirit, I am not sure why but I feel the music and the lyrics of the song "Alone." If I was not going to be a Astrophysicists, I would be a rock star.:)

Well I am back the vast fruit, and beer bearing land(Washington State) that mom calls home. I am only home for 3 days and then I am off again. I am going to visit my father-in-law, we will have a hectic schedule when I get up there. We have planed to watch some John Wayne movies, watch some more John Wayne movies, watch some more John Wayne movies, and do some fishing. It will be a real taxing situation with my father-in-law, hope I can keep up with him.

I must say that Blackwolf made some of the best rolls that I have ever eaten, and the barbecue chicken that he made was better then what I could ever hope to make, I just do not know what he did(something about a secret spices or something like that). Man!! that was great eating at the condo, and Mrs. Blackwolf-- well just let me say that women can cook. I do not think that Blackwolf will ever have to worry about losing weight being married to Mrs. Blackwolf. O and welcome to the family Mrs. Blackwolf :)

Well, I am home on the range so to speak, suffering from internet withdrawal. I did not realize how much time I spent online between work and home, just let me say alot. I do not understand the way the airports have their internet access set up. They want you to pay $8.00 to $10.00 for access at the airports and this is for 12 to 24 hours of internet access; you are only for a hour or two, so why would you pay? I would not mind paying a few dollars for a hour or two, but I guess they do not want that. Anyways.

There is no junk food here, but there are some Paul Newman I want to be "oreo cookies." I am sorry there is no such thing as fake oreo's, and Paul Newman's cookies, just let me say that they are all moms. It is nice being in the mountains and hills, I like the feeling that accompanies being in them. I am always soooooooo glad that me and Lily spent 4 years in Alaska. We went camping in the mountains and Lily made fresh blueberry pancakes with the bluebarries that we picked at the campsite. Me and my boys would throw rocks into the streams, and skip rocks across the water. We would also bring our cat with us and the cat acted like a dog. The cat would follow us when went hiking on the trails, or the cat would just be around us like a dog. Alaska was a cool place to live.

I have been reading history books for the last 6 or 8 months, I seem to have this driving need to understand the history of the world, the evolution of man, why the world evolved in the way that it did. I have always enjoyed history, I even took more history classes then I needed for my degree, but there is a sad part to knowing and understanding the history of the world that that has been seeping into my conscious. All the sensless death and suffering that has occured; for what? Why? I just do not understand why history is framed by so many innocent people dieing, and suffering all these 1000's of years. I know that some people try to explain the world's events by religious mindset and overtones, but that explanation falls short, it does not explain the world or the suffering that people have had to indure.

I was reading about the Byzantine Empire and how the empirer decided that the nation that they just conquered he needed to make a statement about his power, so what did he do? he blinded 14,000 people, but only blinded in one eye every 100th person so that way some of the people could guide the totaly blind people home. 14,000 people blinded for what? along with the blinded people are children that are suffering now too.

During the days in China when the different warlords of the various clans ruled, what would happen this that warlord would send out his person to collect tax money, if the people did not have any money what would happen to the people? The warlord in his wisdom would bring the "man of the house back" to his compound and then string the different people together by wire through there calves, just like fish, until somehow the families could pay the tax.

So I have a love, hate relationship with history. I have this desire to read history and study it, I love reading and understanding the battles of the WWII, the History Channel has some great documentaries on WWII ( my favorite move is "The Great Escape") , and it is ironic that because of WWII we have space program, but so many people died because of WWII and Hiltler's quest for power.

I have researched this microwave oven / food controversy and I do not find any evidence to change my mind, in other words I am not disposing of my microwave oven anytime soon. I have personally talked to an engineer, two physicists, one nutritionist, and one biologist and asked them the question if a microwave oven will destroy or change the molecular structure of food to rendure the food not viable to the body. The consensus was that the microwave oven was not damaging the food molecules any worse then a conventional oven will. What the microwave heats up is the water molecules in the food, some nutritional nutrients are destroyed just like conventional heating of food. I read one study from Australia were the microwave oven actually enhanced the vitamin C and E content in the food being heated up. The nutritionist that I talked too knew about the study that Shadowpaint referred too, but she did not agree with the findings. So this carbon based unit will continue bombarding food with microwaves until the food glows in the dark.

I was thinking about a name for the little female package on the way in Africa, and "Lo-Ruhamah" is a female Biblical name inspired by the Holy Spirit.

We had a new friend this morning, Lily was looking out the back yard and saw him/her and then called me and this is what we saw on our fence.

I have always wonder what gave the "Church" so much political power during roughly 1500's AD to about 1800's AD and I think I have my answer. I am presently reading the history of the middle ages, I just finnished reading how the monasteries became the dispositers of knowlege during the Dark Ages, I knew this, but I have never considered this fact before until now. The book never said that this was the reason but I came to my own conclusion based on the concept, "knowledge is power", and since the Church had all the knowlege at the time I think that this is one reason the Church was able to amass such political power in the time frame that I have been thinking about. It is sad though that the Church used this power in unworthy persuits of it's own agenda; money and more political power.

When I was about 12 years old (I think), I made a promise to myself that I would never stop watching cartoons, and I have kept that promise to myself. I still love watching cartoons ( watched Batman this morning), and as my kids grew up I watched cartoons with them and loved every minute of it. I used to watch "He Man", "Nija Turtles", "Transformers", "Bugs Bunny", "Spiderman", and "X-Men", all the cool cartoons with my kids, not anymore(they are older now), I watch them by myself now. What started me thinking about cartoons and how I have always felt about them is that last night we went to the move,"Pirates of the Caribbean" and there had a preview for the new Transformer movie, I can hardly waite for the movie. I have always love the Transformers; Autobots, and Decepticons, my favorite Autobot was always Optimus Prime, he as always wise , patient, and concerned about the innocent people that were always caught in the middle of the conflict between the Autobots and Decepticons. I remember one year for Christmas we bought the oldest son "Optimus Prime," I am not sure who was more excited, if I was more excited buying it for him, and showing him how you transformed from a robot to 18 wheeler, or my son unwrapping it on Christmas and seeing the excited look on his face that he had a Transformer.

I do not think that is right that to watch the old cartoons like "Bugs" that a person needs cable TV, because the cartoons that are on Saturday morning are really sad. I miss watching Bugs, watching Bugs is like watching the old Star Trek shows, I never get tired of watching the reruns.

There is another concert that me and Lily went to that I surprised her with. Lily really likes Yanni, so for her birthday one year I took her to a Yanni concert, but that is not the story. The story is that the night before there was a Yanni concert on PBS and we watched the concert on TV. During the concert I made comments like, "Since we are seeing Yanni on TV we really do not see him in person, this is better to see him on TV" or "I really do not think that he is that great of a musician", or "He does not play his music loud enough for me so I would not really like to see him in person." I made some more cemments then I just let it die. The next morning when we were getting ready for work, I gave her a birthday card with 2 tickets for Yanni, I surprised her :), we went out to eat and then the concert, it was an enjoyable night.

Back in the year 2000 there was a radio station that played what they thought was the best 100 songs of the milianium, and boy were they wrong. Anybody knows that "Stairway to Heaven" (by Led Zepplin) is 10 times better then "Satisfaction"(by the Rolling Stones). I am bias though, I am not a fan of the Rolling Stones. I like 2 songs by the Stones, for the most part I really do understand why people think that the Stones are so great. Mick Jagger has smoke(pot), drank liquar, and indulged in drugs so much that just by looking at him you can see that his brain is fried. He is not exactly coherent during interviews, I just do not see what the attraction is. There is one rock band that I really think is the greatest and my kids can tell who they are--- BOSTON; Lily even came with to the concert with me when they were here in Tampa. I like Boston because they have their own sound, and that the leader of the group graduated from MIT. MIT is cool, I wish I could take classes there and graduate from MIT. Anyways, I am still erked that they the "radio station" placed the Stones over Zepplin.

This summer was to be about working(at HCC) and lifting weights at Bally's, just let me say that a father's job is never done, no matter how old your childern are.

I finished the book, "Adam's Curse." Basically the Y-chromosome has mutated over the years and is becomming inert, men are going to die out in 125,000 to 130,000 years, soooo party on men. At least with the current understanding that we have now about genetics men are on a downward spirial path, but I am sure we will figure something out and cure the genetic defect so that Y-chromosome will survive, and produce more Dallas Cowboy football players.

Well, on to other things; went to Barns and Nobles the other day with Lily and found this book, "A History of the Middle Ages," by Joseph Dahmus. The Middle Ages are defined from the Fall of the Roman Empire to about 1500 AD, I have read alot of Ancient History and Modern History, but not much Middle History, so this will be enjoyable.

I am attending a audio visual/computer comference next week. I love my job, yea!! more toys :)
